BERKELEY
"Another Soldier"
15.3hh Quarter horse gelding
Lessons - beginner to advanced
We bought Berkeley in 2001. He had been sold several times in the previous few years because no one could figure
out how to keep him from grabbing the bit and running. However, we looked past it and saw the horse behind the habit and bought
him anyway. After a few months with us, he was fixed and now anyone can ride him. Ashley leased him for two years and showed
him in short stirrup and then in the Hopeful Jumpers before moving on to Ruler. Colleen then showed him in the Intermediate/Modified
Rider Hunter and Equitation divisions for a year. Then he just taught beginner and intermediate lessons for a while.
Now he's more or less retired (he's REALLY old! like 30-something!). Occasionally one of the kids will ride him, and he usually
does a little something during summer camp. He pretty much just hangs out with Snip all day.
PCHA Hunter Type Pleasure Horse Reserve Champion 2004
We unfortunately lost Berkeley in April 2008. He had a good long life and we know that the last seven years at least
were happy times for him. We will always remember him.
